Mermaids Casino is a casino located on the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas, Nevada. The casino's only gaming options are slot and video poker machines.[1][2]
When the casino opened in the summer of 1956 it was the first two level club in Las Vegas and the motor stairs, connecting the casino with the lower level restaurant, were the first in Southern Nevada.[3]
In 2007 Steve Burnstine purchased the nearby business of La Bayou, Girls of Glitter Gulch, and Mermaids Casino.[4]
Mermaids (along with it's sister casino across the street La Bayou) are amongst the few remaining Casinos that cash out in real money. (Most of the other Casinos in Vegas use a cashless Voucher system, which may be redeemed either at the cashier counter or at one of the ATMs)
